Using Iolite in Jewellery & Care Tips | Mohs Scale 7–7.5: Suitable for rings, pendants, earrings and beads, strong enough for most jewellery but avoid heavy knocks as it can cleave. We like Iolite in rings and pendants where its shifting violet-blue colour can really catch the light. Clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush, ultrasonic cleaning is possible but should be avoided if the stone shows fractures or cleaves.

👀 Did you know? Iolite is a perfect example of Pleochroic Colour. It displays different colours depending on the viewing angle, typically shifting between blue, violet and grey.
