Using Tourmaline in Jewellery & Care Tips | Mohs Scale 7–7.5: Strong enough for most jewellery styles, Tourmaline works beautifully in rings and pendants where its wide range of colours can take centre stage. From soft pastels to vivid neons and even multi-coloured zoning, it’s a gem that never gets boring. Ultrasonic cleaning is usually safe, particularly for cleaner stones, but as inclusions are common we’d recommend sticking to warm soapy water and a soft brush to be safe.

👀 Did you know? Tourmaline’s name comes from the Sinhala word turmali, meaning “mixed gems” as early gemstone traders often confused it with other stones because of its wide colour range.
