Using Petroleum Quartz in Jewellery & Care Tips | Mohs Scale 7–7.5: More of a collector’s stone than a jewellery stone, but if set it works best in low-impact designs like pendants where it is less likely to be damaged. Despite being over 7 on the Mohs scale, the natural petroleum inclusions make it delicate and really it is not suited for daily wear. Clean gently with warm soapy water and a soft cloth only, avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners completely as the inclusions can be damaged.

👀 Did you know? The tiny liquid bubbles inside Petroleum Quartz are actual fossil fuels, sealed in the stone millions of years ago making this one of the few gemstones that literally contains ancient organic material.
